The large-scale reconstruction of main artetial roads of Moscow will be launched this year

The mayor of the city, Sergey Sobyanin, noted at the meeting of a town-planning committee that 9 of 19 reconstruction drafts are prepared, and that will give an opportunity to start repair works already in 2011. Reconstruction of other 10 roads will start in 2012. Total lenght of reconstructed road network will be 270 km. An additional point is that repair works will be carried out on bordering routes, the length of which is 38 km. 55 km of backup-roads, 12 km of public transport points, 78 subways and 28 pedestrian zones will be constructed, 615 km of utility systems changed.
 

On the threshold of preparations to the Olympic games 2014 intensive road construction is held in Sochi

Russian Minister of Transport Igor Levitin stated that by the end of 2013 there will be constructed 40 km of roads and 5 modern road interchanges. At the moment works are in progress on 46 transport and infrastructure objects.
 

Governor of the Moscow region Boris Gromov reported about road construction plans

Governor of the Moscow region Boris Gromov reported about road construction plans. He noted that in 2012 sizeable funding resources will go to the expense of road and transport branch from the federal budget. Special priority will be given to construction of the Central ring road. Regional Road fund will start functioning at the beginning of 2012. Its resources – 18 bin. Roubles will be directed to financing road works of the city and region.

Information agency «Interfax» notes that for better traffic situation in the Moscow region it is required to construct more than 200 flyover crossings through railway lines. At the present time appropriate places are being looked for; the issue of financing construction, which should be completed by 2013, is taken into consideration.  

 

The near-term prospects of road construction in Saint-Petersburg

The new governor of Saint-Petersburg G. Poltavchenko stated that 23% of city expenses will be aimed to solving problems with transport. In 2012 19 bin roubles will be appropriated to construction and reconstruction of roads. 18 major road units, including interchanges, are planned to be set into operation. Furthermore, notable financing is provided for road repairs and maintenance, including running road repairs – 4, 9 bin roubles; for extensive road repairs – 2, 9 bin roubles; for road maintenance - 8, 7 bin roubles.
